From now on, we’ll be open continuously on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm, instead of just from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm! Saturdays will stay the same, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The past few weeks have required quite a bit of patience from you – even reptile fans found the queue outside the Leihlager a little scary! And to be fair, it was pretty stressful for us too.

Better access and shorter waiting times

We hope the longer opening hours will make it possible for more people to borrow things, especially those who couldn’t make it during our limited opening hours before. And if your visits are spread out more throughout the day, waiting times should get shorter and we’ll have more time for your borrowing needs – whether that’s helping you choose the right item or simply having a lively chat about your projects (possibly accompanied by a fun drink).

Trial period until the end of the year

For now, the extended opening hours are a trial until the end of the year. After that, we’ll decide how to continue. We can no longer cover the additional opening hours through volunteer work alone, so for the first time we now have paid shift managers to keep things running during the longer hours.

As a non-profit organisation, this is of course a financial challenge, and something we’ll be keeping a close eye on. Whether it will pay off is something we’ll find out!

Best case: you borrow even more, and we can extend our opening hours even further 😉
